Meet Claire

Certified Life Coach & Psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Claire,

Originally from beautiful Derbyshire in the north of England, I moved to the USA in 2014, so my husband could follow his dream and take the company he had created to the next level. Moving to a new country and culture, leaving behind friends, family and everything familiar is challenging for even the most grounded and resilient of adventurers and for that reason I chose to take a career break, to enable me to focus on helping my family make a successful transition to our new forever home.

I'm so glad that I gave myself the time and space to connect with my new community and to build new strong and beautiful friendships. We love our life here and ten years on, it still feels like we're living the dream.

My path to becoming a Life Coach and Psychotherapist was not a direct one, even though I wanted to be a psychologist from a very young age. For a number of years I worked for a large corporate company and when asked to take over an existing team, I was drawn to taking an intro to counselling course. That course enabled me to learn so much about myself and how to support my colleagues. It helped me deal with my own challenges as well as the team’s and lit a passion which led me to gain further qualifications and become a Counsellor working with an agency supporting young people before moving to the USA.

I had always planned to return to work once my youngest graduated high school, which he did in 2020. With the opportunities presented by a global shift to online working I decided to add Life Coaching to my therapeutic skills. It was important to me to pursue a globally recognised accreditation so that the people who chose to work with me would feel safe and secure knowing that my qualifications and ethics met the exacting standards required by the ICF.

As an experienced psychotherapist, I thought the training for my Life Coaching certification would be relatively easy. But I had my ego handed to me on a plate several times during the year long course and I've learned so much more about myself and what a valuable way of working with clients coaching can be. I believe I improve with every client and every session and I truly hope that I never stop learning!

I'm a very grounded and down to earth person, what you see, is very much what you get and this is reflected in my approach to life coaching. Before you can move forward in life, you often need to let go of something such as a habit, an old feeling or limiting belief and it's not always obvious.

I help people identify what that is and to take action to unburden themselves so they can achieve their goals and enjoy life more. Through the work, clients are able to develop their own “inner coach” so they can continue to build on their learning as they move forward.

My sessions are all about empowering my clients.

From new parents to the newly retired, I have experience of working with all age groups. Students facing life changing decisions, parents coping with their grown up children leaving home, recently retired adults who still want to create value and be valued; I'm passionate about them all, and take great joy in seeing them move forward to find fulfilment and happiness.

I look forward to meeting you.
